Under the CARES Act, the Department of Education has extended relief benefits for students who must withdraw from their classes due to Covid-19 (CV19) after receiving 联邦财政援助.

  • While our office still must recalculate how much financial aid a student was actually eligible to receive based on the last 日期 of attendance, the student may not have to repay that aid to the College or the Department of Education.
  • 的 Department of Education will exclude from a student’s Subsidized Loan usage (SULA) and Federal Pell Grant lifetime eligibility used (LEU) any payment during a period that the student does not complete due to this qualifying emergency.
  • Further, we may be able to exclude those withdrawn units due to CV19 from our calculation of a student’s 学业进展满意(SAP), which determines eligibility 以获得未来的援助.

*A student may receive the CARES Act withdrawal benefits more than one term.  然而, per the Department of Education, should the College find a student withdrawing from more than one semester due to CV19, they suggest that it is reasonable to require documentation of student circumstances prior to consideration of applying the CARES 在随后的任期内采取救济措施.如果要求,学生必须提供给学院 with a written attestation explaining why the withdrawal was the result of Covid-19, along with documentation that would support the student’s claim. 如果通过学生的 ZoneMail 电子邮件,无需签名. 如果财政援助办公室不这样做 accept the student’s assertion that their withdrawal was due to CV19, or no such attestation and documentation is received, the withdrawal will not be considered Covid-related, and the student will still be subject to repayment of financial aid received per recalculation, and all attempted units will be used to calculate SAP.

You may be eligible for up to $20,000 in federal studen loan cancellation based on 你的收入!

的 White House has announced a $10,000 forgiveness for qualifying federal student loan borrowers/$20,000 forgiveness for qualifying Pell Grant recipients/suspended all federal student loan payments and waived interest charges on federally held loans 直到12/31/22. Please carefully consider these changes before refinancing federally held loans with any private loan company, as in doing so you will no longer qualify for these changes or other future benefits applicable to federally held loans.
